Dédié aux nouvelles esthétiques, le Lieu International des Formes Émergentes se signale par une programmation artistique transdisciplinaire et internationale. Logé dans l’Alvéole 14 de la base sous-marine, c’est à l’architecte berlinois Finn Geipel qu’a été confié le nouvel aménagement de ce vaste espace atypique qui accueille aussi la scène des musiques actuelles, le VIP. Destiné à accueillir la création artistique sous tous ses aspects, cet équipement résolument innovant inscrit la Ville dans le paysage exigeant des initiatives européennes les plus récentes en ce domaine. Un lieu atypique et singulier porteur d’une image forte.

Sur le toit de la base sous marine a été placée une structure appelée le radôme. Celle-ci a abrité un radar de l’OTAN sur l’aéroport de Tempelhof à Berlin et a été offerte à la ville de Saint-Nazaire par le ministère de la défense allemand. Dans le prolongement de l’identité réalisée en 2010, c’est en référence à cette structure et aux lignes droites et franches de la base sous marine que le programme de saison Automne-Hiver 2011-2012 de ce lieu a été conçu.

Dedicated to the new aesthetics, the International Place of the Emergent Forms distinguishes itself by an artistic transdisciplinarism and international programming. Accommodated in the Alveolus 14 of the submarine base, the new layout of this vast atypical space which also welcomes the scene of the current musics, the VIP, was confided to the Berlin architect Finn Geipel. Intended to welcome the artistic creation under all its forms, this resolutely innovative equipment allows the city to come within the demanding scope of the newest european initiatives in that domain.

A structure called The Radôme has been placed on the roof of the Submarine base. It used to host a NATO radar on Tempelhof Airport in Berlin and has been given to the town of Saint-Nazaire by the german Ministry of Defense. The Autumn Program of 2010-2011 has been conceived in reference to this structure and the straight and clean lines of the Submarine base
